Professor Emeritus Dr. Edward Lungu, SAMSA Patron
“There are many collaboration projects between Africa and other continents. There are very few projects as successful as the MASAMU/SAMSA collaboration. This project has united Southern Africa to East and West Africa but more importantly it has improved the quality of research in sub-Sahara Africa as evidenced by the quality of journals in which the articles of the collaborators are published. Southern Africa will never be the same THANKS to MASAMU.“

From Participants
“I built new academic connections across the world. I also have been exposed to a wide area of academic fields in which I can base my future studies.”
“The research groups were great. Starting a problem from scratch and working through the details was great practice for what I can do in the future. It got me thinking of other ideas for projects and stirred my interest in alternative disease modeling, specifically ones here in Africa.”
From 2025 Virtual MASI Convening Participant: “This was probably the most well-organized Zoom conference I’ve ever participated in. Kudos to Overtoun and others (Brittany, Chinedu, Mariam, Monday, and Muritala) for handling this difficult situation so well.”
